THE SHAPER - KEN TRINDER

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, surfing has been a part of Ken Trinderʼs life from the beginning. After graduation from Franklin and Marshall College in 1993, and then from Wake Forest University School of Law he unhappily practiced as an attorney before departing the legal world to purchase a countertop company name Trindco. This experience led him to invent a product called EOS a 3cm countertop that has a thicker, more durable consistency than its 1/2" rivals. His business and creative skills were put to the test as he revamped and revised EOS which is now a national brand and sold all over the world.

While developing EOS, he spent some downtime making wooden surfboards for himself and friends. He soon began to get requests for custom boards and for board donations to his sonsʼ school auctions. Eventually, they ended up in bigger events like the Operation Smile 25th Anniversary Gala, where a board, signed by the Beach Boys, went for $6,000.

As his evolution with aesthetic materials continued, around three years ago he started experimenting with carbon fiber boards. The first one he made rode so well he started making them for all his friends, continued the auction circuit and has been selling them to word of mouth clients since. He currently lives in Virgina with his wife and three young sons, all of whom love to surf.
