OUR BOARDS

Each Shire board is hand crafted by Ken Trinder at his shop on the coast in Virginia. He uses the fiinest materials to custom design the boards, adding details that make them truly one-of-a-kind. Some people use the boards as artwork, but the real beauty is in the ride. They handle well and will last forever.

As an East Coast born and raised surfer, he has spent decades exploring different surfboard designs. While he wouldnʼt trade his memories of surfing the Virginia Beach pier, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Montaukʼs point breaks, Rhode Islandʼs mansion lined right points, and Cape Mayʼs jetty lined beaches, he has also surfed long enough and internationally enough to know East Coast surfers are presented with their own unique challenges in finding great surf and turning average surf into memorable sessions. He has found that something worthwhile can be garnered from every style, shape, and generation of surfboard.

While Ken enjoys shaping the standard average thruster and firmly believes in its place in the upper pinnacle of surfboard designs, he has become intrigued by hybrid board design that allows for what he calls the three primaries. All three of these elements, when perfectly combined, create a perfect surfboard:

(1) MANUEVERABILITY
(2) SPEED
(3) FLOTATION
